Welcome 2023

It's January 1. My 2022 photo book is ready. What a year. Emigrating, starting my own business, turning 50, opening a second location, twice a spicy abdominal surgery, from May the high season erupted, which lasted until December. 

And on January 1, my mood board 2023 is in front of me and I am looking at an almost empty January month. For a moment, poverty madness strikes. A nasty affliction I inherited from my 16th year of life. A conditioned reaction that has long since lost its place in my current life. I look at the monster and smile kindly at it. 

And now...? The head is off. The first week is a fact. Full house. In both venues. 

I welcome a cheerful lady who has gifted herself our castle for 6 nights. To reflect... Where better to do that than in the roaring '20s. Sitting in the original deckchair. 

A German couple is here for 1 night. They needed a break. They end up booking 3 more nights. This place was what they so desperately needed. 

Thanks to Apres la vie's lovely post, we immediately get a booking in. For the next day. A pretty nice couple with dog checks in. I know better than anyone how important it is to 'get away from it all' once in a while. Taking time for yourself. 

A lovely family, whom I helped twice at a farewell. They too cross the threshold here. How nice to see them. 

And last but not least.... A French couple. And how well these people prove when we try our best in language together, me with my newly-learned French words, them with their poor English, that we indeed understand each other very well with a smile. We laugh at each other's clumsiness. The laughter is boundless. 

Later, he sends me a message in English to thank me for the nice welcome. I thank him back in French. Nice to have you here! 

So you see... 2023 is going to be a wonderful year.
